Videos

i-learn: writing has lots of multimedia extras, including author interviews, top tips, and stimuli for writing. Here are some examples:

Rendlesham Forest - Stimulus for a recount with engaging content about UFOs. From i-learn: writing Years 3 and 4 DVD-ROM.

Writing the news - A sports writer talks about how and why he wrote a news report and biography, thinking about audience and purpose. From i-learn: writing Years 5 and 6 DVD-ROM.

Why write instructions? - An author explains why she chose to write a set of instructions. From i-learn: writing Years 1 and 2 DVD-ROM.

“I thought the whole resource seemed contemporary, purposeful and user-friendly. Great for boys and filling what I perceive as a gap (in that it is easy to find good examples of fiction and poetry to show children, but much harder to find good quality, appropriately levelled non-fiction).”

Anna Caroe, Great and Little Shelford CE (A) Primary School

"i-learn: writing is definitely worth looking at and exploring. It has a great structure, is clearly linked to framework objectives and offers cross-curricular links. The software really does take children through the writing process in enjoyable, interactive steps; and a speech function which reads out all on-screen text to pupils ensures the material is accessible."

Jonathan Lear, review in Teach Primary! magazine
