Cornerstones for Writing

Cornerstones for Writing is a comprehensive scheme of work supporting the writing process for young authors. It encourages children's writing skills through a focus on the process of writing and offers a planning solution to help you incorporate developed writing into and beyond the literacy hour.

Cornerstones for Writing equips pupils with essential writing skills and ensures that they are confident in constructing their own texts. By offering a rich variety of differentiated activities with clear progression, Cornerstones provides real inspiration.

UK curriculum

A rich variety of differentiated activities offer rewarding writing experiences for all children aged 4–11.
We’ve done all the searching for quality model texts so you can make light work of planning.
Focus on a five-step process of writing: analysing (modelling), planning, drafting, editing and publishing.
Drive children towards a quality piece of writing over a series of lessons.
Specific links to other subjects support literacy across the curriculum.

Cornerstones guides children through a 5-step process of writing - an easy to follow system which supports children in a project approach to developed writing.

Helps you plan for developed writing and build in appropriate time

Each half-term, Cornerstones offers a two-week focus linking reading to writing - helps you organise your coverage of the NLS objectives (fiction and non-fiction) and build in the time children need for sustained writing.

Posters are laminated and durable - wipe on, wipe off. A1 in size and easy to see, they feature a variety of text types and writing frames.

Overhead Transparencies are a practical whole class resource and ideal for older children. They include 32 durable acetates per pack - colour and black and white, and feature a variety of text types and writing frames.
